Darnhall Eco Warriors
At Darnhall the children have taken recylcing to dizzy, new heights. Geraldine the giraffe is collecting plastic bottle tops to make a piece of recycled plastic art work. Geraldine is a 6 foot giraffe made by the British Ironworks as part of local recycling project rolled out to all primary schools in the Cheshire area. Unfortunately, giraffes are now on the endangered animals list which the children are most concerned about. Geraldine will be at Darnhall until Christmas so get saving and washing all your bottletops and look out for the fabulous piece of art work we will create based on climate change.
Eco Club
There is an Eco/Global club that runs every Wednesday after school.
Children are encouraged to explore world affairs and issues that affect our environment and those around the world.
There are lots of competitions to enter and art and craft recycling activities on offer. We are also very keen litter pickers and our efforts even made it into the Daily Mirror spring clean campaign!
Awards
Darnhall has already achieved Bronze status as an Eco School and is busy working towards Silver.
We are also one of only a few schools in Cheshire to have been awarded Gold from 'The Woodlands Trust' for our work planting trees and recycling.
