At the end of this unit of work, the children will write a narrative based on the book 'Gorilla'.

Some children will write the story from the Dad's point of view and will aim to include speech in their story.

Key focuses during our writing unit

  • To use a rich vocabulary for effect and include a range of sentence types in longer pieces of writing.
  • Use expanded noun and prepositional phrases.
  • Choose nouns and pronouns for cohesion to avoid repetition.
  • Use paragraphs to organise ideas within the story.
  • Use apostrophes to show possession.

Our science topic this half term is States of Matter I have attached a file to this page including some home learning activities linked to this topic. This can also be found on Class Dojo!

It is still really important to read daily and now we have our fantastic 'Go read' app there's no excuses to miss a day!

Here is the link to the page.

The spellings are put on class dojo on a Monday and tested on a Friday. Please practise at home.

This term we will be learning about the Beneath out feet, this links nicely with our reading unit of work looking at volcanoes, mining and why people move to get work. We will be covering this through Art, D&T and Geography.

This year our PE lesson is on a Monday afternoon. We will be covering gymnastics focusing on making routines together.

P.E kit is navy shorts, joggers or skort and a pale blue T-Shirt. Kit is available from school. Please contact the office if you would like to order some.

Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and returned on a Monday. It will alternate between English and Maths. Over half term holidays we will offer optional topic and theme based practical activity homeworks.
