We will be reading Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit. We will start by practising our sentence types and punctuation writing all about The Romans.

To begin the autumn term we will be practising place value; reading, writing, ordering, estimating and solving problems with numbers.

Times Tables

Year 3 pupils will learn their 4's and 8's and practise 2's, 3's, 5's and 10's.

Year 4 will learn their 6's, 7's, 9's, 11's and 12's and practise the rest. In the summer term of Year 4 the children will be speed tested on their times tables knowledge.

Please practise daily using the Times Tables RockStars game on your IPads.

Each Monday we will hand out ten spellings for your child to practise at home. We also practise them regularly in the classroom but every little helps. The children will be tested on Friday and awarded dojos if they achieve 10 out of 10.

Homework will be handed out on a Thursday and returned on a Monday. It will alternate between English and Maths. Over half term holidays we will offer optional topic and theme based practical activity homeworks.

Our topic for the autumn half term is 'Animals including Humans'. We will be learning all about animals and thier habitats, lifecycles and food chains. Skeletons, the digestive system, carnivores, herbivores. producers and consumers are also areas that we will be exploring.

If your child is on the RWInc reading scheme they will be continuing with the programme from where they were assessed in the summer term. They will contiue to have daily phonics in the morning, bringing home books every third day and also books of their choice. It's great to see that so many of you have logged onto the new GoRead app and are busy logging all the books that you've read. We'll soon be awarding some beautiful new books from our very own book vending machine.
