Welcome Squirrels!

Ms Jones t and I are SO excited to be working with you all this year! We can't wait to get started. We are looking forward to helping you learn something new everyday so below I have included some information about what we will be learning about during Autumn 1.

Spellings will be given out every Monday via the Class Dojo page. Please practice these at home as children will be tested on these during Friday morning. Reading at home should take place at least 3 times a week and books will be checked in school on a Tuesday and a Thursday. If your child reads 3 times during 1 week, they will recieved a stamp on their Frequent Reader Worm. When this is full, they will recieve a free book from school! As well as this, Times Tables should be worked on at home weekly. I have included some links below to support this. Homework will go out on a Thursday via Class Dojo and this should be completed and submitted through the Class Dojo page. If your child completes the homework, they will recieve a Dojo!

In maths, we will firstly be focusing on fractions! We will also be looking at time. This is such an important life skill and something you can be practicing at home. I have attahed the end of year 4 expectations for maths so you can see what we will be covering throughout the year.

Times Tables

Year 4 is a big year for times tables because by the end of the year you will need to know ALL your times tables from the 1 times table to the 12 times table!! Below I have included some handy websites to support you when practicing your times tables...

Our first text in English is going to be 'The Snow Dragon'. This is such a lovely book and it's going to help us produce some fantastic pieces of writing! We will be learning lots of new and different skills which we can then apply to our writing. Have a you know what a noun, adjective, verb and adverb is? Do you know what an expanded noun phrases is? Can you use commas to seperate words in a list? Don't worry if not! We will be learning all about this in our English lessons.

Our first topic in science will be Forces! We are going to be completing lots of practical experiements where we will explore friction and how to make an experiment a fair test. Do you know anything about forces already?

Please find a copy of the knowledge organiser for Forces on Rabbits Class Dojo page.
