We will be learning this half term too...

Use subordination (using when, if, that, or because) and co-ordination (using or, and, or but)
Use expanded noun phrases to describe and specify
Add suffixes to spell longer words
Our class author this half term is Oliver Jerrfers
Visit the library to read his books, log it in Go App by the end of half term and they'll be a prize and a certificate. Get going and get one of her books from our class author basket.
Visit his website to explore more.
By the end of year 2 the children are expected to be able to read and spell the above common exception words. Please practise these regularly with your child. You could use rainbow writing, write them in a pyramid, practise them in a sentence or find them in reading books.
Reading and Phonics
Please read your child's Read Write Inc books daily with your child, as this will support progress in reading and phonics and build your child's confidence. Within the text there are tricky words, speedy words and comprehension questions too. Vist Oxfordowl.co.uk to access Read Write Inc books. Please record any reading in your child's online reading log on https://go-read.co.uk/parents/ so we can track and update your child's reading.
We try and encourage our children to read for pleasure and have a passion for reading as it will stimulate their brain, grown their vocabulary and strengthen their reading ability.
Each half term in Bumblebee class I recommend 5 reads and encourage the children to try and read all 5 by the end of the half term. If they achieve this then they'll be awarded with a certificate and a prize.
These texts are texts that adults or older siblings could read and model good fluency and expression. You could also discuss new vocabulary and ask questions about the text.
