This term's text in English is 'The Lion Inside' by Rachel Bright.   This is an amzing book and it's going to help us produce some fantastic pieces of writing!

We will be consolidating lots of skills taught in Reception to build our confidence. Plus lots of new Year 1 writing skills.

Can you use a capital letter and a full stop?

Can you use a question mark and an exclamation mark?

Can you use finger spaces?

Can you use and to join your ideas?

We will be learning all of this in our English lessons.

Science

Reading and Phonics

Please read your child's Read Write Inc books daily with your child as this will support progress in reading and phonics and build your child's confidence. Within the text there are tricky words, speedy words and comprehension questions too. Visit Oxfordowl.co.uk to access Read Write Inc books.

Reading should be fun and an enjoyable experience so we try to encourage a passion for reading by reading a wide range of books in school.  Why not visit the library to discover some new books and authors your child hasn’t seen before.

Our class author is Julia Donaldson each week we will be reading some of her stories, she has written over 120 books so we have lots to choose from!
