Welcome to Grasshoppers 

Welcome to Grasshoppers class page. Miss Edge is your class teacher in Year One. The fabulous Mrs Sumner, Miss Nicholls and Mrs Weedall are our teaching assistants. 

I know things are a little bit different at the moment some of you are at school and some are working from home.

Spring Term

Remote learning

During the school closure, remote learning resources and pre-recorded videos will be accessible through Class Dojo. This will ensure that children are given the opportunity to continue learning remotely, at home.

Once a week, printed paper packs produced by myself, will be made avaliable to collect on a Friday. These include maths, literacy, science, fine motor skills and games your child can access independently.

Spellings will be continue to be provided every Monday via the Class Dojo page. Please practice these at home as and test your child at the end of the week. 

Reading at home should take place everyday day via the Oxford reading Owl using the class login.

 

Literacy

Science 

Our topic in science will be Materials!

We are going to be identify and compare the suitability of a variety of everyday materials, including wood, metal, plastic, glass, brick, rock, paper and cardboard for different uses. We will investigate how the shapes of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching.

Maths

This half term in maths we will be exploring place value to 20. We will be learning to count up to 100. They will count aloud and represent numbers to 20 using pictures and concrete objects like sticks, straws, and number lines.

 

Geography

This haf term in Geography, we will be looking at The United Kindgom.
